October 2017 – Dr. McAnally’s New Book on Opioid Dependence
We are excited to announce the publication of Dr. McAnally’s new textbook on reducing opioid dependence. The book presents what is currently the most in-depth pharmacologic review of these powerful and dangerous medications, and
a comprehensive overview of current evidence and guidance for their judicious prescription within a balanced approach to pain management. The material is presented within the framework of traditional epidemiologic analysis, comparing and contrasting America’s opioid epidemic (currently claiming more lives every day than automobile accidents, or HIV in its heydey) to classic epidemics of prior centuries. While written for the clinician, it has applicability to anyone in healthcare, or to anyone with an interest in this staggering public health problem.
